Individual therapy
At good chat counselling, you are the focus as we partner to address real life challenges, whether you are struggling with self-esteem, facing major life transitions, family issues, or relationship breakdowns. If you are stuck in a cycle of self blame, or all or nothing thinking, good chat counselling is here to help break those negative thought patterns. Counselling is adapted to fit your unique goals, build on your existing strengths, and improve overall wellbeing.
Culture and lived experience are a vital part of your identity. These aspects are intentionally explored and integrated into sessions in a culturally responsive way to help face unique challenges such as the nuances of identity, or intergenerational dynamics to help you thrive and navigate complex relationships.
Couples therapy
Good chat therapy supports both partners at whatever stage they are in their relationships with building resilience, and strengthening existing skills. Whether that is pre-marital counselling, building lost connection, or navigating major phases such as parenthood. Culturally adapted strategies are offered to navigate cultural expectations, core values, and family dynamics and boundaries towards a harmonious and balanced partnership.
Couples therapy at good chat focuses on enhancing communication and increasing connection between partners. The Relational Life Therapy (RLT) approach emphasises understanding the core issues in a relationship, while building trust through effective communication tools to improve relationships. Through this approach clients gain insight leading to personal growth and change to enhance each unique relationship with respect and understanding.
Perinatal Mental Health
The transition into pregnancy and parenthood is a tremendous shift that can lead to feelings of exhaustion, shame, isolation, intrusive thoughts, or a loss of self. It can be difficult to recognize the person in the mirror, and find joy again, while trying to navigate a new normal and various complicated emotions. Beyond the individual struggle, the changes of this season can often create a sense of distance or disconnect within your partnership. At good chat counselling, support is provided in a safe and non-judgemental space to be able to process thoughts, and move towards a sense of balance, connection, and wellbeing in the various stages of early parenthood.
Education and tailored support plans are based on the unique needs of the individuals and families to cope with challenges of parenting on a daily basis. Focus is on collaboratively developing skills to achieve goals, while improving communication, and managing the mental load. The approach at good chat counseling implements training from the Canadian Certificate in Perinatal Mental Health, ensuring that the strategies we use are evidence-based, safe, and specific for pregnancy and postpartum recovery.
Family Therapy

Specialized Parent Support
Parenting is a marathon that keeps changing its route just when you think you have found your stride. Whether you are stuck in a cycle of “survival mode”, or the emotional complexities of teens, each stage brings its own set of hurdles that can leave you feeling drained. It is so easy to fall into the trap of feeling like you are doing “too much”, while worrying you are not doing “enough”. The constant mental load can add pressures to be the “perfect” parent leading to burnout and exhaustion.
At good chat counselling we work alongside you to find real world solutions that actually fit your life. Together, we dig deeper into what your child’s emotions are trying to tell you, while giving you a practical “parenting toolbox” to handle the daily ups and downs. By shifting from just reacting to situations to truly understanding them, you can move away from constant friction towards open communication and trust.
Our self-esteem group for grades 3–6 is designed to be a soft landing spot where kids can build a healthier view of themselves. Through a mix of cooperative games and reflective exercises, we help children move past self-doubt and toward a sense of true belonging. From mastering positive self-talk to learning how to bounce back from challenges, your child will gain a practical "toolkit" for life—all while celebrating their unique strengths in a safe and encouraging space.
